This Christmas, bundle up a bath bomb, soap or bubble bar gift in this reusable wrap made from lokta paper. The fun and colourful design was created by Kate Stelfox, a self-taught designer and illustrator from our Lush York shop. Kate says, "Inspired by magical moments and nostalgia, I wanted this design to portray how playful, fun and wonderfully surprising family Christmas celebrations can be!"
Leaving the world Lusher than we found it
Nepalese handmade paper is made from the fibrous inner bark of the evergreen shrub, Daphne Bhopal, also known as Lokta bushes. They are cut a few cm from ground level, allowing the plant to regrow from the radial root. The plants regenerate and can then be re-harvested after 3-7 years depending on altitude and growing conditions. Bastipur, close to the Indian border, has the perfect dry conditions required for the papermaking process and the unit there was set up to create employment and support empowerment of women in the area. Pass forward, reuse or recycle for a lush environment.
