Ingredient
Tin Oxide
Benefits
Synthetic
Tin oxide provides a dazzling lustre effect thanks to its glazing properties.
Tin oxide is found in many shimmering Lush products as it’s part of the PET-free lustre composition. It is considered safe for use in cosmetics and we have never used its nano version. The mineral is pressed with synthetic fluorphlogopite or calcium sodium borosilicate and pigments to achieve different colours and visual effects, helping to create a wide range of glittery experiences.
It is an inorganic compound derived from a mineral known as Cassiterite, which is the main ore of tin. Its name originates from the Greek word ‘kassíteros’, which refers to the islands of the Western Coast of Europe that were known as Cassiterides or ‘Tin Islands’ in Pre-Roman times and provided Europe with tin during the Bronze Age.
