Ingredient
Clove Bud Oil
Eugenia caryophyllus
Benefits
Natural
Spicy and sweet-scented clove bud oil adds a warm note to perfume blends. Used on the skin and scalp, it has antimicrobial, stimulating and soothing properties.
Cloves are the dried aromatic flower buds of the tropical evergreen clove tree, belonging to the myrtle family. The rose-coloured buds are picked and dried for 48 hours in the sun, turning them into a rich brown colour.
The main constituent of clove bud essential oil is a spicy, aromatic substance called eugenol. Like most things spicy, it stimulates the blood flow, which revives the skin and promotes healthy hair growth, but this compound has also shown good results at fighting against hair loss and dandruff. Used in oral care products, eugenol freshens the breath and, thanks to its analgesic properties, soothes the entire mouth.
Lush purchase clove bud oil mainly from Indonesia, but also Madagascar.
