Persian lime oil spreads its sharp, energising, zesty scent across a range of Lush products. From the top of your hair to your mouth and the tips of your toes, its antimicrobial and exfoliating properties keep things clear and healthy.
Persian limes are grown on a hybrid variety of the Citrus aurantifolia called latifolia. They have a much thicker rind than conventional key lime and are cultivated mainly in Brazil and Mexico. They got their name from a popular belief that the fruits were brought to Europe by Persian travellers.
What are the benefits of Persian Lime Oil?
- Cleansing for a radiant complexion
- Uplifting, zesty scent
- Shiny hair
Limes (and their oil) contain citric acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that provides gentle exfoliation, cleansing the skin of dead cells and leaving it radiant and smooth. This acidity also adds a lot of shine to the hair, as it flattens the strand cuticles, which enables the hair to better reflect light.
Where does Lush source Persian lime oil?
Lush purchase Persian lime oil from a Mexican producer. Lime peels are cold-pressed to obtain a mixture of oil and water, which then goes through a centrifuge to separate the water from the essential oil. The result is a fragrant, mouthwatering oil that does wonders for the skin, hair and soul!
